»invited by // part one«
20 Years – Galerie Robert Drees in Weidendamm 15
25 Years – Robert Drees Art Dealer in Hannover
More than ONE reason to celebrate!
With our upcoming exhibition »invited by // part one«, which will open on “Zinnober” weekend August 31/September 1, 2019 in the gallery spaces, we will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Galerie Robert Drees in Weidendamm 15 in the state capital of Lower Saxony.
For the exhibition marking this jubilee, our gallery artists have invited a guest artist to enter to an exciting neighborly dialogue. Surprising constellations emerge that document artistic as well as biographical connections.
Gallery artist Paul Schwer is thus juxtaposed with two artists he recently met preparing the Braunschweig Lichtparcours, the Hannover artist duo Lotte Lindner & Till Steinbrenner.
The Japanese artist Shige Fujishiro, known for his delicate and spectacular safety pin pieces, has been invited to take part in the exhibition by Pepa Salas Vilar, an artist who regularly appears as a protagonist in her own pictures.
Siegfried Neuenhausen, the doyen of Hannover’s art scene who will be represented with bronze sculptures was invited by Sun-Rae Kim, who met him while studying at the HBK Braunschweig.
The Düsseldorf artists Werner Haypeter and Simon Halfmeyer are not only geographical (studio) neighbors but are also close artistically, often producing site-specific installations that make sight and space tangible in new ways.
The richly varied works of Jürgen Paas and Jürgen Jansen, likewise natives of the Rhineland, share contentual aspects with constructs encompassing layering and tiering, chance and order.
The Munich artist Wolfgang Stehle is following Lucia Dellefant’s invitation to participate in our show. He critically and humorously questions the medium of sculpture in his works and thus deals in a differentiated manner with Lucia Dellefant’s wall sculpture.
Christian Ruckdeschel, who was invited by Szilard Huszank, already realized a large-format sculpture in the garden of the German-Hungarian landscape painter. The works of the two artists are each characterized by a broad spectrum—Huszank’s canvases oscillate between figuration and abstraction; Ruckdeschel’s stone objects between fluctuating and steadfast states.
The Spanish sculptor Samuel Salcedo, who has always fascinated us with his human countenances, invited his friend and artist colleague Ramon Surinyac from Barcelona, who will surprise us with his spectacular landscape paintings.
The Finnish Marko Vuokola and Pertti Kekarainen are likewise friends and share a love for photography that is evident in their striking explorations of levels of space.
Hanna Nitsch and Veronika Veit concern themselves with interpersonal relationships and familial-individual situatedness. This is not their first encounter; the two artists and their works already confronted each other ten years ago in the show »in between – Die Kunst, erwachsen zu werden« and are now enjoying a comeback in the »invited by« exhibition.
