Tine Benz – »A Deep Breath of Life«
»A Deep Breath of Life« is the encouraging, almost pleading title of one of the newest, incredibly colorful works by Tine Benz. The Berlin artist creates scenarios of places that do not seem to be of this world. Supposed idylls end up taking wrong dream- or nightmare-like ways. While the collaged canvases by Baselitz student are carried by a mystic, sometimes melancholy calm and emptiness, they simultaneously reveal a tension that can overturn the moment of the captured event into something unexpected, in part also unfathomable. The addressed fragile relationship between humankind and nature, between landscape and urbanity are presently more topical than ever.
Tine Benz will be present. An exhibition catalogue is being published, which she will sign.
Come between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. or reserve an “opening time slot” at firstname.lastname@example.org or 0511 – 980 58 28.
Saturday, June 20, 2020 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Parallel to the works by Tine Benz, we will be presenting works on paper by the Catalan artist Ramon Surinyac in our OUT-LOOK project space. Several works by the Spanish artist were shown for the first time in our anniversary exhibition »Invited by // part one«, to which he was invited by our gallery artist and his countryman Samuel Salcedo. The canvas works shown at that time, which appear abstract when viewed from up close and almost photorealistic from a distance, were enthusiastically received by the public. Aside from these impressive landscapes on canvas, Surinyac also occupies himself with the medium of paper. Delicate landscape come about through the employment of fire and pencil as “drawing mediums on paper.” We will be exhibiting these previously unshown works for the first time.
