Space Oddity // Liebscher Kersting

Space Oddity – are strange spaces emerging or are spaces and landscapes dissolving? Constructions connect themselves to landscape. Landscape winds its way through constructions. Light co-opts empty spaces. Spaces are formed and simultaneously disintegrate. Such spatial idiosyncrasies can be found in the works of Dorothee Liebscher and Johannes Kersting. Both artists seemingly assemble contrasting elements in their pictorial worlds and let them interact with each other. The young Leipzig painter Dorothee Liebscher processes this game in partly large-format canvases while Johannes Kersting from Nuremberg constructs perspectival picture boxes and paints auratic illusions of space and landscape.
