NAHSCHUSS with Lars Eidinger, Devid Striesow und Luise Heyer //
Script & Director: Franziska Stünkel // Cinema release

Franziska Stünkel has been working intensively on her feature film “NAHSCHUSS” as a screenwriter and director for the last few years, in addition to her work as a photo artist. We are very happy with her that after the pandemic-related closures of cinemas, her film is now opening in cinemas nationwide on August 12, 2021.

NAHSCHUSS. A political drama of GDR history.

The plot of “NAHSCHUSS” is based on a historically true incident from the time of the GDR. The very touching and intensely told story is based on the life of Dr. Werner Teske, who was the last person to be sentenced to death and executed in the GDR in 1981. With her long, intensive research work, Franziska Stünkel has not only shed light on an important chapter in the history of the GDR, the death penalty in the GDR. She attaches great importance to the indirect reference to the 50 states that still have the death penalty in their legal systems today. The result is an incredibly gripping movie, directed by her, starring Lars Eidinger, Devid Striesow and Luise Heyer.

Franziska Stünkel was recently awarded the “Förderpreis Neues Deutsches Kino” as screenwriter and the “One Future Preis” as director at the 38th Munich International Film Festival. The film celebrated its world premiere there in July 2021. Congratulations!

The preview of “NAHSCHUSS” will take place on 08.08.2021 in Hanover at the Raschplatzkino and at the “Seh-Fest” of the Gilde Parkbühne. Germany-wide cinema release is on Augsut 12, 2021, in Hanover at the Raschplatzkino. You can find the trailer at
