The news of the sudden death of

Pertti Kekarainen
1965 – July 18, 2021

has deeply saddened us. We mourn the loss of a friend, an intelligent person who always turned towards life, a critical thinker, an artist who questioned the world on many levels and always sought a change of perspective.

Pertti Kekarainen was one of the most successful representatives of contemporary Finnish photography, the “Helsinki School of Art”. In an exhibition already planned for the 25th anniversary of this “Helsinki School of Art” in September 2021, his works will be honored at the Helsinki Art Hall as part of the exhibition, now posthumously. He was the first Finnish photographic artist to be included in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, among others.

He once described himself as a “free traveler in photography.” He is missing.

Our thoughts are with his family.
