Szilard Huszank – »Recent Paintings of an Immigrant«
The title of the exhibition by the Hungary-born painter Szilard Huszank references his own story, thus broaching a much-discussed current subject. A border crossing is always involved when someone immigrates or emigrates. Huszank not only observes this border experience in his own personal biography but it is also recorded in his so-called landscape collages. Szilard Huszank’s fictional landscape compositions carry us off into scenarios that oscillate between representational and abstract depictions of the natural kingdom. Proceeding from a large repertory of classical motifs, he employs his personal artistic language to translate them into a play of color and surfaces. His opulent paintings are not based on a realistic illustration of nature but encompass an assemblage of interchangeable parts that solely signify the reference point to sections of forest through verticals. The skillfully configured works combining technical ability with demanding contents are being shown for the first time in a wide-ranging solo exhibition at the Galerie Robert Drees.
Lucia Dellefant – »Ourconomy«
The work of the artist Lucia Dellefant occupies the intersection between art and political action, creating expansive venues of reflection with her installations and boldly colored paintings. She addresses the viewer directly, opening up spaces for experimental thinking. The artist frequently questions the relationship of the individual as regards current social and political issues. She has named her most recent artistic intervention »Ourconomy«. The project visualizes new approaches to a more humane means of economic activity, experiments with radical strategies for social justice while offering possibilities to become active in the sense of a fair economy. What and how many global economic policies are we capable for changing? How can each and every one of us get involved in creating a more just world? In »Ourconomy«, Lucia Dellefant develops strategies for visionary economics. LEAK/IKEA will be shown in the OUT-LOOK space as a representative piece from her »Ourconomy« project.
